Full Tour Itinerary
Leaving Glasgow behind, we head for the Western Highlands, by crossing the Firth of Clyde and passing Dumbarton Castle, famed for its connections with Mary, Queen of Scots and William Wallace, the real Braveheart!
After a drive along the banks of romantic Loch Lomond, enter the Argyll Forest Park and start our ascent of the dramatic "Rest and be Thankful" mountain pass.
Inveraray is an attractive town of whitewashed Georgian buildings and wide streets that stands on the banks of Loch Fyne.
Here there is the chance to visit Inveraray Castle (April - October only), the historic home of the Duke of Argyll, chief of the Clan Campbell.
We pause to admire the spectacular ruins of Kilchurn Castle, majestically situated on Loch Awe, then it's on through the narrow Pass of Brander to reach lovely Loch Etive beyond.
Shortly we make the descent into the fishing town of Oban, the gateway to the Hebrides. This picturesque town overlooks an attractive horseshoe bay and is famed for the quality of its seafood.
After time for lunch and exploring Oban, we cross the Connel Bridge to continue our journey northwards through Benderloch. We pass Castle Stalker, the ancient seat of the Stewarts of Appin, which sits on its own tiny islet overlooking the Isle of Lismore.
Listen carefully as we hear the sad tale of the Glen Coe Massacre, which took place in 1692. This infamous event saw some 40 members of the resident MacDonald Clan murdered by troops of the Campbell Clan.
Today Glen Coe is a much more peaceful place. It is famed for its stunning scenery and varied wildlife, including red deer, wildcat and golden eagle. We'll make a stop here so you can capture the scene.
Our journey southwards takes us through the wilderness of Rannoch Moor, then back to Loch Lomond, where our final stop of the day will be in the picturesque village of Luss. Here we can enjoy the views over the "bonnie, bonnie banks" before making our way back to Glasgow.

Romantic Inveraray Castle Gardens sits on the shores of Loch Fyne and is one of Scotland’s finest stately homes.
The ruggedness of the highland scenery serves as a spectacular backdrop for the sheltered tidal Loch, beside which nestles the present castle built between 1745 and 1790.
The ancestral seat of the Dukes of Argyll, Chiefs of the Clan Campbell whose family have resided in Inveraray since the early 15th century.
Visitors enter the famous Armoury Hall containing some 1300 pieces, including Brown Bess muskets, Lochaber axes and 18th-century Scottish broadswords. Preserved swords from the Battle of Culloden are also on display.
The exquisite State Dining Room and Tapestry Drawing Room contain magnificent French tapestries, which were woven especially for the castle, as well as fabulous examples of Scottish, English and French furniture and countless other precious artworks.
The castle’s priceless collection of china, silver and family heirlooms is particularly noteworthy as it spans many generations.
Fans of Downton Abbey will recall that Inveraray had a starring role during a two-hour special episode. The Grantham family and staff travelled to Scotland to visit their cousins, the Marquess and Marchioness of Flintshire, in their mythical Scottish home, ‘Duneagle Castle’.
Inveraray Castle is open to the public between April and October.

My tour to Oban, Glencoe and the Highlands was fantastic. Our guide, Stuart, was so knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. The weather was absolutely gorgeous with sunshine much of the day. He gave us ample time at each stop so I did not feel rushed. I highly recommend this particular tour and the company itself. Everything went so smoothly and I cannot think of how it could’ve been better. Thanks to Stuart and his comrades!

We arrived early to the location. However, we didn’t know we would be arriving to the outside of a building with no sign to indicate we were in the right location. I had just done a tour with this same company 2 days prior in Edinburgh and we meet outside the tour company’s office building and took a big blue bus. So I was looking for a blue bus. We didn’t see one. I asked a near by tour guide from a white van if this would be the location we get picked up at. He assured us a bus would come right where we were standing to get us. As time ticked on and the deadline of the meeting time had approached and then passed, I started to panic that we aren’t in the right location. So I went up to the same tour guide in a white van I just spoke to 15-20 mins prior and asked again if the bus with this company would be picking us up because now it’s past the meet time and very close to the leave time. Finally he asked me my name and I told him. He said, oh you’re with me! He was waiting on us too. We were also waiting there with another couple in the same situation as us. And come to find out they were also suppose to be with the white van. The tour guide told us this company must of overbooked and put us with this other company on this van. It wasn’t clear and communicated very well causing a lot of confusion in the beginning. Maybe communicate better on the website explaining in detail what we should be looking for so it doesn’t happen in the future to other guest. Our tour guide was great but he was hard to understand majority of the time. The bus microphone wasn’t always on either which didn’t help.
