  • The Great Glen was created by massive landmass slip 400 million years ago.
  • In the mid 12th century King David built the first stone castle of Inverness, which was destroyed in the Wars of Independence.
  • Glen Coe was the imagined location of James Bond's family home, Skyfall.
  • Skara Brae was also Scotland's first archaeological site to be given World Heritage status, along with the Ring of Brodgar, Standing Stones of Stenness and Maeshowe: the Neolithic Heartland.
  • Loch Morar is Scotland's deepest Loch (1,000 feet/304 metres).
