Fun Facts

  • Bonnie Prince Charlie landed at Glenfinnan to raise his standard in 1745 and start the Jacobite Rebellion.
  • Built in the 15th century by one of Scotland's most powerful families, the Crichtons, the roles of Blackness Castle were those of garrison fortress and state prison. The present castle was designed as the bow of a large ship heading into the Firth of Fort
  • Glasgow University dates from 1451 and in Outlander it doubled as Harvard University.
  • Stunning Drumlanrig Castle sits amongst 40 acres of wonderful gardens. In Outlander (season 2) it played the part of Bellhurst Manor.
  • Faskally Forest provided a stunning location as the home of the native Americans in series 4.
