Full Tour Itinerary
Departing from Edinburgh we make a stop in South Queensferry so you can view the impressive Forth Bridges including the historic Forth Rail Bridge, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The journey into the Kingdom of Fife takes us across the sweeping Forth Road Bridge with wonderful panoramic views to savour. Enjoy scenic coastal scenery as we head for the East Neuk of Fife. "Neuk” is an old Scot’s word meaning corner, and it’s the location of a cluster of attractive fishing villages including Crail and Anstruther. We’ll make a stop so you can explore one of these historic ports and take a stroll down to the harbour.
On our arrival in St Andrews, there will be a short orientation tour of the town before enjoying an extended stop (around 2 hours) during which time you can explore the many attractions from the ruins of the 13th Century castle to Scotland’s oldest university. Of course, St Andrews is renowned as the home of Golf and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, the games ruling body for much of the World, is located overlooking the Old Course. The R&A organises the Open Championship which has taken place in St Andrews on many occasions. You can learn more about the game and the important role that this community has played in its development by visiting the British Golf Museum (optional).
Our last visit of the day is to Falkland where we will step back in time to visit this traditional Scottish village and explore Falkland Palace, the country residence of the Stuart Kings and Queens. The gardens contain the Royal Tennis Court which dates from 1539 and is the oldest in Britain! Falkland also featured in the hit Outlander TV series being the location for Inverness. From Falkland, we meander our way back to Edinburgh.
