Full Tour Itinerary
From Inverness, we journey south to the atmospheric waters of Loch Ness. Here, you can choose to either wander the picturesque streets of Drumnadrochit or step aboard a cruise and explore the ruins of 800-year-old Urquhart Castle.
Turning north, enjoy a hearty lunch in Beauly, a charming village whose name literally means ‘beautiful place’ in French. Named by the monks who built its stunning Priory in the 13th century, we’ll wander the corridors now famous as a location for TV’s Outlander.
Traditional Highland hospitality awaits us next in the sleepy village of Muir of Ord where, opening permitting, we’ll enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of Glen Ord Malt Whisky Distillery and sample a warming dram or two.
Suitably stirred, we then travel back more than 250 years to the haunting expanse of Culloden Moor, scene of the last bloody battle on British soil, where Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Jacobite troops were crushed by the British Army in 1746.
Equally poignant is our final stop – the mysterious Clava Cairns so familiar to Outlander fans the world over. Surrounded by these mysterious burial chambers and standing stones, you’ll learn the real story of TV’s Jamie Fraser before retracing your steps home to Inverness.
