Full Tour Itinerary
From the centre of Inverness, you will travel by luxury mini-coach along the banks of the Caledonian Canal to the Bona Narrows. It was here that St Columba is said to have come face to face with “Nessie”, the Loch Ness Monster, in 565AD!
Soon the canal broadens to become Loch Ness, and we meander our way enjoying beautiful views at every turn. When we stop at the Clansman Visitor Centre, a cruiser awaits to take us for a 50-minute cruise on Loch Ness. We will sail the deepest waters of the loch, which is where Nessie has been seen most often.
Urquhart Castle is strategically located on a rocky promontory overlooking the loch. Whoever held this castle controlled the Great Glen, and as such, it changed hands on numerous occasions. The MacDonalds and the Grants each held Urquhart for a time, as did the English forces. The Hanovarian Government finally had the castle blown up in 1692. There are great views of the atmospheric castle ruins to enjoy from your comfortable cruise boat.
Back aboard your luxury coach, travel to delightful Drumnadrochit, famous for its attractive floral displays and “Nessie” connections.
The last part of our journey takes us through picturesque Glen Convinth named after an ancient nunnery, then along the banks of the Beauly Firth and back to Inverness.
