Full Tour Itinerary
From Edinburgh and Glasgow, we head into the natural beauty of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
For first stop will be in the pretty village of Luss, where you can admire the views of the "bonnie, bonnie" banks.
Next, we travel the entire length of Loch Lomond, and as we head northwards, watch as Britain's largest lake becomes almost fjord-like.
Our journey will take us along the banks of Loch Awe and through the Pass of Brander, where, in 1308, King Robert the Bruce won a decisive victory allowing him to unite the Scots against English dominance.
Oban is a picturesque fishing port set on the Firth of Lorn. We have plenty of time to discover this bustling town and enjoy the views of the Island of Kerrera and the Inner Hebrides beyond.
Famed for quality seafood, no visit to Oban is complete without visiting one of the stands on the pier for a tasty treat.
Next, retrace our journey to reach romantic Kilchurn Castle, which stands guard at the head of Loch Awe. For years Loch Awe was a natural protection for the Campbells of Inveraray against their enemies from the North.
The 3rd Duke of Argyll built the "new" town of Inveraray between 1746 and 1780 at the head of Loch Fyne. The town sits in the shadow of his castle, and as we will discover, this pleasant town retains much of its 18th Century charm.
If you wish, you can visit Inveraray Castle (open from April to October) or explore the dark history of Inveraray Jail.
During our descent of the "Rest and be Thankful" mountain pass, we'll see the original road, built by General Wade, winding its way up through the glen.
Soon we reach the Argyll Forest Park, where icy streams cascade down through wooded glens.
Shortly we will return to the gentle shores of Loch Lomond once more. It's a short drive to Glasgow and then onwards to Edinburgh.

Tell me more about Inveraray Castle?
Romantic Inveraray Castle Gardens sits on the shores of Loch Fyne and is one of Scotland’s finest stately homes.
The ruggedness of the highland scenery serves as a spectacular backdrop for the sheltered tidal Loch, beside which nestles the present castle built between 1745 and 1790.
The ancestral seat of the Dukes of Argyll, Chiefs of the Clan Campbell whose family have resided in Inveraray since the early 15th century.
Visitors enter the famous Armoury Hall containing some 1300 pieces, including Brown Bess muskets, Lochaber axes and 18th-century Scottish broadswords. Preserved swords from the Battle of Culloden are also on display.
The exquisite State Dining Room and Tapestry Drawing Room contain magnificent French tapestries, which were woven especially for the castle, as well as fabulous examples of Scottish, English and French furniture and countless other precious artworks.
The castle’s priceless collection of china, silver and family heirlooms is particularly noteworthy as it spans many generations.
Fans of Downton Abbey will recall that Inveraray had a starring role during a two-hour special episode. The Grantham family and staff travelled to Scotland to visit their cousins, the Marquess and Marchioness of Flintshire, in their mythical Scottish home, ‘Duneagle Castle’.
Inveraray Castle is open to the public between April and October.
Can I join the tour in Edinburgh and leave in Glasgow?
Yes, you can and you can bring your luggage too.
