Our journey to the Isle of Skye starts with a drive along the banks of Loch Ness, forever linked with the Loch Ness Monster - affectionately known as Nessie. During the journey, your guide will entertain you with tales of Scotland’s most enduring and enchanting legends.
Say hello to Highland Cattle
If luck’s on our side, the day begins with the chance to meet some Highland Cattle, “Hairy Coos.” During the stop, you will have the opportunity to admire and photograph these gentle icons.

Leaving Loch Ness behind, we’ll travel westwards towards the towering peaks of the Five Sisters mountain range at Kintail.
See Eilean Donan Castle
We’ll make a photo stop at Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most iconic sights and an excellent place for a selfie!
Soon, we cross the Skye Bridge to reach the highlight of our day together, the Isle of Skye.
Visit Portree, the Isle of Skye's capital
The island boasts approximately 400 miles of coastline, so the next part of our journey offers stunning views over the silvery sea lochs to the islands of Scalpay and Raasay. We’ll make our way to Portree, the island’s main town.
There’s free time to explore this pretty community – don’t forget to seek out the colourful houses surrounding the harbour.
The Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock
The rocky Old Man of Storr, a 50-metre pinnacle, overlooks Loch Leathan. It creates a stunning image, perfect for your next social media post.
Next, we see Kilt Rock, which stands overlooking the Sound of Raasay. You’ll marvel at the sight of the basalt columns that resemble the pleats of a kilt and the plunging waterfall that cascades 180 feet (60m) into the sea below.
Through the Trotternish Peninsula
Dramatic coastal and mountain vistas unfold as we journey through Skye’s Trotternish Peninsula, where your guide reveals stories of Jurassic fossils, dinosaur footprints and the unique lava formations that have made this area known as the “Theatre of Geology.”
See the Cuillin Mountains at Sligachan
The Cuillin Mountains dominate the skyline of the island. We’ll stop at Sligachan, where there are impressive views of the Red and Black Cuillin Mountains to savour.
Walk to the Fairy Pools
Our final stop on Skye will allow you time to visit the famous Fairy Pools. After a 20-minute walk, you’ll see the first of the pools that have become an Instagram sensation.
The picturesque rock pools and tumbling waterfalls are renowned for their crystal-clear waters, which flow from the Cuillin Hills. There’s plenty of time to enjoy the views before returning to the coach.

Please note that the return walk to the Fairy Pools is around 1.5 miles and will take approximately 40 minutes. As the path involves stepping stones over streams, adequate footwear is essential.
Return to Inverness via Loch Ness
Back on the mainland, we travel along the banks of Loch Duich and through Glen Shiel, the site of the famous Battle of Glenshiel, which was part of the 1719 Jacobite Uprising.
The last part of our journey will retrace our route along the banks of mysterious Loch Ness. We’ll make our final photo stop at Urquhart Castle, whose ruins overlook the deepest part of the loch.
From here, it’s a short drive back to Inverness and the end of our tour.
