Full Tour Itinerary
Leaving Inverness behind, we’ll travel along the banks of Loch Ness and then head westwards through Glen Moriston to reach the towering peaks of the five sisters mountain range at Kintail.
We’ll make a photo stop at Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most iconic sights and an excellent place for a selfie!
Soon, we cross the sweep bridge to reach the highlight of our day together, the Isle of Skye.
The island boasts approximately 400 miles of coastline, so the next part of our journey offers stunning views over the silvery sea lochs to the islands of Scalpay and Raasay. We’ll make our way to Portree, the island’s main town.
There’s free time to explore this pretty community - don’t forget to seek out the colourful houses surrounding the harbour.
The rocky Old Man of Storr, a 50-metre pinnacle, overlooks Loch Leathan. It creates a stunning image, perfect for your next social media post.
Next, we see Kilt Rock, which stands overlooking the Sound of Raasay. You’ll marvel at the sight of the basalt columns that resemble the pleats of a kilt and the plunging waterfall that cascades 180 feet (60m) into the sea below.
Dramatic coastal and mountain vistas unfold as we journey through Skye’s Trotternish Peninsula, where your guide reveals stories of Jurassic fossils, dinosaur footprints, and the unique lava formations that have made this area known as the “Theatre of Geology.”
The Cuillin Mountains dominate the skyline of the island. We’ll stop at Sligachan, where there are impressive views of the Red and Black Cuillin Mountains to savour.
Our final stop on Skye will allow you time to visit the famous Fairy Pools. After a 20-minute walk, you’ll see the first of the pools that have become an Instagram sensation.
The picturesque rock pools and tumbling waterfalls are renowned for their crystal-clear waters, which flow from the Cuillin Hills. There’s plenty of time to enjoy the views before returning to the coach.
Please note that the return walk to the Fairy Pools is around 1.5 miles and will take approximately 40 minutes. As the path involves stepping stones over streams, adequate footwear is essential.
Back on the mainland, we travel along the banks of Loch Duich and through Glen Shiel, the site of the famous Battle of Glenshiel, which was part of the 1719 Jacobite Uprising.
The last part of our journey will retrace our journey along the banks of mysterious Loch Ness. We’ll make our final photo-stop at Urquhart Castle, whose ruins sit overlooking the deepest part of the loch.
From here, it’s a short drive back to Inverness and the end of our tour.

What can I expect on this Signature Day Tour?
Travelling on a Signature one-day tour is a great way to discover the best of Scotland from your city centre base of Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness.
During your day of discovery we’ll introduce you to many aspects of our country: spectacular scenery, history, folklore, nature and much, much more.
Travel is provided by air-conditioned vehicle and each tour is led by an experienced driver/guide who will provide a live commentary in English.
There are stops planned at the key sights as well as for meals and comfort breaks.
Will there be stops for meals and are they included in the price of the tour?
Meals are not included in the tour price, but we will make stops where you can get refreshments and something to eat.
If you wish, you can bring a packed lunch or pick up lunch items at a previous stop.
Vegetarian food is widely available in Scotland.
Can I book seats on the coach?
The seating on the coach is not allocated so you are free to sit in any vacant seat.
We recommend that you and your party arrive at the boarding point together so that you can be seated in the same part of the coach.
I am travelling on a budget. Can I do the same trip by public transport?
Almost certainly not!
Our tours are designed to maximise your sightseeing opportunities so we frequently head off the main road and take routes where there is little or no public transport available.
Please also bear in mind that the tour commentary that you will enjoy is designed to bring Scotland’s history, nature and scenic beauty to life as you travel around.
Reading about your surroundings from a guide book will just not be the same!

We were on a tour of the Highlands by car mainly for hiking. Skye was a place we wanted to visit but which remained a bit off of our tour and we did not really want to drive all the way there. Therefore, we booked this one-day tour from Inverness, 12 hours in total, at least eight of which to be spent on the bus. We made up our mind a bit reluctant, but at least we could have enjoyed the scenery from the bus window without having to drive ourselves. About half an hour after starting from Inverness, it was already clear, that the day would have been much more interesting than expected, and thanks solely to our tour guide Murdoch from WOW Scotland. He started talking, and we were suddenly immersed in a vast world full of tales, legends, myths, personal experiences, chronicles of the area and historical accounts about, related to or set in Scotland or in the places we were traversing. Everything told in a rich, vivid, colourful and captivating narrative in beautiful language, perfect intonation and pleasant voice. The places we visited were certainly already worth the while in there own right. But through Murdoch's narration, everything out there became alive, intriguing, exciting. Yes, the day was over much sooner than expected and the worrisome many-hours-on-the-bus had been one of the most exciting facets of the whole experience. Actually without them, a whole good part of it would have been missing. I warmly recommend this tour to anyone who likes seeing beautiful scenery and also enjoys listening to many sorts of stories and let the imagination wander.

Thank you for the fun and amazing tour! We were lucky enough to have good weather mixed with some rain and Tim made the most of it. He told us fun facts, legends and stories throughout the trip and kept a jolly mood all the way. He also took good care of the group, helping a friend who got travel sick and sat him closer to the front to feel better. Highly recommend this tour for an amazing time and hopefully you’ll get Tim for extra fun!

The tour was great from the beginning to the end. The tour guide (Murdoch) told great stories, that got me really involved. The short stop at Loch Ness was lovely as well as the stop at Eilean Donan Castle. I loved the stunning landscapes of the Isle of Skye, the Fairy Pools were my personal highlight. I loved the lunch from The Isle of Skye Baking Company, they had very tasty gluten-free options (I need a gluten-free diet). The quiche, the biscuits, the cake and the salad were really delicious.
