Full Tour Itinerary
Departing from Glasgow we travel northwards to Stirling where our first visit of the day is to the imposing Wallace Monument. This Victorian tribute is to Sir William Wallace, Scotland’s great freedom fighter and the real "Braveheart”! The monument contains various exhibits, including his mighty 1.7 metre two-handed sword. If you are feeling fit why not climb the 246 spiral steps to be rewarded with wonderful views towards Stirling Castle, the River Forth and the City of Stirling below.
Next we travel through Strathallan to reach Auchterarder, the location of the famous Gleneagles Hotel and Golf Resort. This was the venue of the 2014 Ryder Cup and there is a photo-opportunity to capture where the international legends of golf play.
The attractive spa town of Crieff sits in the foothills of the Grampian Mountains and is home to The Glenturret Malt Whisky Distillery, the home of the Famous Grouse. After a tour of the distillery there's an opportunity for a tasting and visit to the shop, a must for any whisky connoisseur! There are a number of trails if you’d like to enjoy a walk in the extensive distillery grounds. There will be time for lunch in the distillery’s popular restaurant.
After our lunch stop we travel by beautiful Loch Earn and through "bonnie” Strathyre to reach the Pass of Leny and the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The Trossachs is known as the "Highlands in miniature” and provides a wonderful vista of sparkling lochs and mountain glens. This is the homeland of the famous outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor - we’ll hear more about his adventures as we travel to Aberfoyle.
After a relaxing refreshment stop in Aberfoyle we make the short drive back to Glasgow and the end of our tour.
