Tour Summary

This comprehensive journey is tailored to those who want to fully experience British history and culture.

In England we celebrate Great British Puddings at the world-famous Pudding Club, visit Yorkshire's finest historic house and explore Bronte and Wordsworth country. In north Wales we wind our way through the hidden valleys of Snowdonia National Park and in southern Scotland we visit mysterious castles and stately homes.

Day 1: Leave London behind to visit imposing Oxford. Later tour through the Cotswolds to enjoy a welcome dinner.

Day 2: Explore Stratford-upon-Avon.

Day 3: Travel to Worcester and Ironbridge before crossing into Wales.

Day 4: Today explore the Snowdonia National Park.

Day 5: This morning enjoy a walking tour of Chester. Cross The Pennines to reach Haworth and York.

Day 6: Spend today exploring the Viking City of York.

Day 7: Visit Castle Howard this morning. Later tour through the pretty Yorkshire Dales to reach the Lake District.

Day 8: Spend today discovering the Lake District National Park.

Day 9: Today visit Hadrians Wall and tour through the Scottish Borders.

Day 10: Today visit Abbotsford House, the home of Sir Walter Scott and Rosslyn Chapel before arriving in Edinburgh.

Day One
London Oxford Cotswolds
There is no better introduction to England than Oxford, the city of dreaming spires. We visit one of its imposing university colleges and enjoy a walk through the city. Later, at a traditional 18th century woollen mill, we learn about the industry that is the cornerstone of Cotswold heritage. We then drive to the delightful Three Ways House Hotel. Tonights dinner is at the world famous Pudding Club.

Day Two
Explore Stratford-upon-Avon 
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a morning at leisure. Later travel to Stratford-upon-Avon to discover Ye Olde England of the Bards birth and his final restingplace, Holy Trinity Church. En-route well stop at a famous thatched farmhouse where the young William Shakespeare courted Anne Hathaway. After touring through more honey-coloured hamlets we return to our hotel for an evening at leisure.  
Day Three
Cotswolds Ironbridge Llangollen
In Worcester visit one of Englands quietest but most interesting cathedrals, then explore the town of Much Wenlock. Later see the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ironbridge before driving to Llangollen which sits astride the River Dee.

Day Four
Llangollen Snowdonia National Park Llangollen
In north Wales we explore Snowdonia National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. At the Bodnant Food Centres Cookery School, a professional chef will demonstrate how to make two Welsh themed dishes, which we will then enjoy for lunch. Back in Llangollen for dinner.
Day Five
Llangollen Chester York
Enjoy a walking tour of Chester this morning. We then continue east across Englands backbone, the Pennine Hills, to the Bronte Parsonage at Haworth. Next we continue to York, the historic capital of northern England. Stay two nights at the Churchill Hotel.
Overnight: Churchill Hotel, York (or similar) (2 nights)
Day Six
This morning our tour leader takes us through the old city, pointing out its highlights. This afternoon enjoy free time to explore York independently.
Day Seven
York Castle Howard Lake District
Drive to the magnificent 18th century Castle Howard, Yorkshires finest historic house and estate. Later enjoy a scenic drive through the wonderful Yorkshire Dales National Park, before arriving at Lake Windermere, our base for the next two nights.
Overnight: Waterhead Hotel, Lake Windermere (or similar) (2 nights)
Day Eight
Lake District
Today we enjoy one of Britains most beautiful national parks. Crossing Lake Windermere, our first stop is Beatrix Potters Hill Top Farm. This afternoon, we visit Dove Cottage, once home to the poet William Wordsworth and the inspiration for his Daffodils poem. After a short cruise on the lake we return to our accommodation.

Day Nine
Lake District Hadrians Wall Scottish Borders
Driving through Cumbria, we follow Hadrians Wall until we reach Birdoswald Roman Fort, one of the best Roman sites on the wall. We then travel to the Scottish Borders and enjoy a traditional three-course Scottish banquet together tonight.

Day Ten
Scottish Borders Abbotsford House Edinburgh
Explore Abbotsford House, the former home of Sir Walter Scott. This afternoon we visit one of the most mysterious sites in Scotland, Rosslyn Chapel, which was featured in the best-selling film The Da Vinci Code. Our final destination is Edinburgh, where our tour concludes.

What will I experience on this Small Group Tour?
Many of our customers choose a small group tour for a more intimate and flexible travelling experience as each group comprises of no more than 16 passengers. These tours are carefully planned to travel off the highways so youll discover quaint villages and picturesque vistas that other tours just drive on by.

What type of room should I choose?
Selecting the right sleeping arrangements can be a little bit confusing so here is a description of what you can expect from the hotel accommodation offered as part of your tour:
Single room - this is a room for one person sleeping in a single bed.
Twin room - this is a room for two people sleeping in two separate beds.
Double room - this is a room for two people sharing one large bed.
Family room - this is a room for three people sleeping in one large bed (2 people) and one single bed (1 person). 

Please note that a family room is normally a standard double or twin room with either a sofa bed or a rollaway bed. All room types other than twins are subject to availability.  
How much luggage can I bring?
You can bring one suitcase and one carry-on bag per person. The maximum weight allowance and luggage dimensions varies by tour basis so you should carefully check the tour documentation for the luggage policy that applies to your tour.   
What meals are included?
One of the great things about travelling on a Small Group Tour is the generous number of meals included as standard. Start the day with a freshly cooked breakfast or, if you prefer, theres always a lighter continental option available too. Youll find a number of evening dinners included which will give you the opportunity of sampling some local delicacies. Will there be a tour commentary?
Each tour is led by an experienced driver/guide who will provide an informative and entertaining commentary in English. Youll hear tales of the Clans, bloody battles and the famous characters that have shaped the history of Scotland. You will learn too of the landscape that surrounds you and of the nature that makes Scotland so special. Be ready to have a laugh as well - youre bound to be told some really corny jokes!
Can I reserve specific seats on the coach?
Seats cannot be pre-booked however your driver/guide will implement a seat rotation system which will allow all passengers the opportunity of experiencing spectacular views from different seats on the motorcoach.
Can children travel on a Small Group Tour?
