Full Tour Itinerary
Discover the World of Outlander, visiting some of the series’ most memorable filming locations alongside places steeped in real Scottish history. The day begins with a drive north across the Firth of Forth to the atmospheric Tuilyies Standing Stones. Although in real life, they don’t offer time-travelling powers, they do share the same energy as “Craig na Dun”.
From here, continue to the Royal Burgh of Culross, one of Scotland’s best-preserved 17th-century villages. Its cobbled streets and ochre-coloured buildings doubled as Cranesmuir, including Claire’s herb garden and the Mercat Cross, so this is an essential visit for fans.
The journey then leads to Doune Castle, the imposing medieval stronghold used as Castle Leoch, ancestral home of Clan MacKenzie. Along the way, you’ll enjoy views of Stirling Castle, dramatically set atop volcanic rock, standing guard over the city.
Heading south again, the tour pauses in the historic town of Linlithgow. There’s time for lunch and the option to explore Linlithgow Palace, which appeared as Wentworth Prison in the series and was once a favoured residence of Scottish royalty.
In the afternoon, visit Blackness Castle, whose dramatic sea-facing walls were used to portray Fort William.
Seasonal access permitting, the final stop is Midhope Castle, the 16th-century tower house known to fans as Lallybroch, Jamie Fraser’s family home. If Midhope is unavailable, the tour instead includes a stop to view the iconic Forth Bridges before returning to Edinburgh.
