Full Tour Itinerary
From the centre of bustling Glasgow, travel into the beauty of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Enjoy an ever-changing panorama as we journey towards our first stop in the Highland village of Tyndrum.
There are amazing views over Loch Tulla and the surrounding countryside as the coach climbs the Black Mount to reach the wilderness of Rannoch Moor. This desolate landscape extends for some 50 sq miles and is one of the most remote areas left in Europe.
There is a stop amongst the majestic scenery of Glen Coe. We’ll hear stories of its colourful history, including the sad tale of the infamous massacre in 1692. Later we make the short journey to Fort William for a refreshment break.
The famous “Road to the Isles” will take us through stunning scenery to the historic fishing town of Mallaig. As well as being one of Scotland’s most scenic drives this route takes us through an area that will forever be connected to Bonnie Prince Charlie and the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion.
There is free time to explore the lively fishing port of Mallaig and enjoy an alfresco lunch of fish and chips. If you are feeling energetic, why not do the short climb to enjoy the views of Eigg, Rum and Skye.
The 21 arches of the Glenfinnan Viaduct makes a spectacular sight. Known to fans as the “Harry Potter Bridge”, we’ll be in time to watch the Jacobite Train steam across, just like the Hogwarts Express does in the movies!
We’ll make a stop by the “Bonnie Bonnie Banks” of Loch Lomond for refreshments before making the final part of the journey back to Glasgow. What a wizard day it’s been!
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect on this Signature Day Tour?
Travelling on a Signature one-day tour is a great way to discover the best of Scotland from your city centre base of Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness.
During your day of discovery we’ll introduce you to many aspects of our country: spectacular scenery, history, folklore, nature and much, much more.
Luxury travel is provided by air-conditioned mini or midi coaches and each tour is led by an experienced driver/guide who will provide a live commentary in English.
There are stops planned at the key sights as well as for meals and comfort breaks.
Will I see the Jacobite Stream Train?
The Jacobite Steam Train operates from 6 May to 27 September 2024. During these dates, the tour is scheduled to allow passengers to watch the real Hogwarts Express cross the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct. Outwith these dates the tour will still make a stop so you can view the viaduct, but there will be no viewing of the train.
The Jacobite Steam Train is run by an independent train operating company. Despite careful planning, unforeseen circumstances mean it's not possible to guarantee that the tour will arrive at Glenfinnan in time to observe the train.
Will there be stops for meals and are they included in the price of the tour?
Meals are not included in the tour price, but we will make stops where you can get refreshments and something to eat.
If you wish, you can bring a packed lunch or pick up lunch items at a previous stop.
Vegetarian food is widely available in Scotland.
What sort of weather can I expect?
Ah, this is the $64,000 question! It may surprise you to know that we have a very temperate climate in Scotland. The geography of Scotland means that it does rain more frequently in the west of the country and there are stronger winds in the east. If it does rain on your tour we will not be too concerned and neither should you be – we need it to make our whisky!
When should I book my tour?
We would recommend making your booking as soon as your travel plans are finalised. Booking early will ensure that you can travel on the departure date of your choosing.

This was a great tour of the Highlands. My family enjoyed seeing some historical sights, as well as areas relevant to the Harry Potter series. Our tour guide, Avery, was very knowledgeable about the areas. There were a few twisting parts of the bus ride as we made our way through smaller roads - I would suggest taking precautions if you get motion sickness - but this was a short bit. I would also suggest packing a lunch so you can maximize your time at the stopping points. We really enjoyed our day!
