Full Tour Itinerary
One of Scotland’s most popular day trips, this Loch Ness, Glencoe and Highlands tour highlights the dramatic landscapes and rich history of the Highlands. The journey begins heading north with a scenic refreshment stop on the shores of Loch Lomond, before climbing into the Highlands by way of the rugged Black Mount to reach the vast wilderness of Rannoch Moor.
Your first major highlight is Glen Coe, one of Scotland’s most atmospheric glens. Towering mountains and sweeping valleys create a powerful setting, made even more poignant by its association with the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald clan.
Continuing west, the route follows Loch Linnhe to the Fort William area, with time to pause for lunch beneath the shadow of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain. From here, travel through the Great Glen to reach Loch Ness, stretching 24 miles long and plunging over 700 feet deep.
At Fort Augustus, you can stroll along the banks of the loch or join an optional cruise for the chance to search for the legendary Loch Ness Monster, Nessie.
The return journey heads south through the picturesque Cairngorms National Park, then through the Grampian Mountains to reach the wooded landscapes of Perthshire. There is a final refreshment stop in the Victorian town of Pitlochry, before returning to Glasgow in the evening.
