Full Tour Itinerary
From Edinburgh we head northwards to ancient Stirling where you’ll get a good view of the magnificent castle and monument to Sir William Wallace, the real Braveheart!
Our ascent of the Black Mount will afford wonderful views of Loch Tulla before we reach Rannoch Moor. This barren wilderness extends for some 50 square miles and is one of the most desolate and unspoilt areas in Europe.
Haunting Glen Coe is known as the "Glen of Weeping". In 1692 40 of the resident MacDonald clan were massacred in cold blood by the Campbells for not forswearing the Jacobite cause. It is said that you can still hear their cries! We'll make a stop in this awe-inspiring place so that you can marvel at the natural beauty of the glen for yourself.
Next we travel to Fort William, which sits at the foot of Ben Nevis - Britain’s tallest mountain. From here we enter the Great Glen which provides timeless vistas of soaring mountains, sparkling lochs and ancient woodlands.
Mysterious Loch Ness has fascinated visitors for centuries so we’ll make an extended stop in the pleasant village of Fort Augustus. Here you can enjoy a stroll along the banks of the loch; watch the boats navigate the locks of the Caledonian Canal or take a short cruise to discover more about Nessie’s home!
The next part of our journey takes us through scenic Glen Spean and into the wilderness of the Cairngorm National Park. We’ll make a stop in the popular town of Pitlochry before making our way towards Perth and through the Kingdom of Fife.
As we cross the Firth of Forth you’ll get wonderful views of the iconic Forth Rail Bridge, now a UNESCO heritage site. From here we make our way into Edinburgh and, sadly, the end of our wonderful Highland adventure.
