Tour Summary

If time is short this great-value tour will introduce you to the highlights of Britain in just 4 days. Youíll have time to explore inspiring York Minster, learn of the characters that frequented Edinburghís historic Royal Mile and enjoy shopping in Chesterís quaint Rows!

Day 1: Our first stop is in the attractive University City of Cambridge. Later see the highlights of York on a walking tour.

Day 2: Explore Hadrianís Wall before heading to Edinburgh for a city tour with a local guide and free time.

Day 3: Discover the beauty of the Lake District before hearing the Beatles story in Liverpool.

Day 4: Today visit two of Britainís most popular cities Ė Chester and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Day One
London ĖYork Ė Darlington
Enjoy a scenic drive towards the university city of Cambridge. Explore the cobbled streets and see some of the world famous colleges. On arrival in York, your Travel Director will show you some of the highlights of this city on an orientation walk. View the magnificent Gothic minster and see the famous street called the Shambles. Dine tonight in your hotel.

Day Two
Darlington Ė Edinburgh Sightseeing Ė Edinburgh (Airth)
View Hadrian's Wall, a defensive wall built by the Romans in 122 AD. Cross the border into Bonnie Scotland and arrive in Edinburgh. The city sightseeing tour with your local guide includes views of the Georgian New Town, Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. Spend free time exploring on your own.
Overnight: Airth Castle Hotel, Airth (Edinburgh) or similar
Day Three
Edinburgh (Airth) Ė Lake District Ė Liverpool (Haydock)
Heading south stop at Gretna Green, where eloping couples married against their parents' wishes. Enjoy spectacular views of Lake Windermere as you travel through the Lake District. Stop in the village of Grasmere where the poet, William Wordsworth lived and wrote his most acclaimed poem, ĎThe Daffodils'. This afternoon spend time exploring Liverpool, home city of the ĎFab Four' before checking into your hotel in nearby Haydock.

Day 4
Liverpool (Haydock) Ė Chester Ė Stratford-upon-Avon Ė London
This morning visit Chester. View the medieval walls, the cathedral and the black and white timbered buildings known as the ĎRows'. Visit Stratford-upon-Avon, the town synonymous with the famous playwright William Shakespeare. Later arrive in London, where your memorable holiday comes to an end.

You will travel aboard a state of the art motorcoach with air-conditioning, on-board WiFi, reclining seats and oversized windows. For your comfort there is an emergency washroom on-board too.
An experienced tour manager will lead the tour and your coach will be expertly driven by a professional driver. In certain cities youíll be joined by a local guide who will provide local insight and show you the highlights. These tours are inclusive of accommodation, transportation, admission fees and many meals. Youíll have the chance to personalise your touring experience by participating in some carefully planned optional excursions. These are at additional expense and details will be provided with your tour documentation.
The group will stay together in first class or superior tourist class hotels. Each has been carefully selected for comfort, quality and ambiance located in the best locations close to the shopping areas and the key sights. In rural locations your accommodation will be in the best available hotels. Breakfast is usually a buffet, where you can choose from cereals, yoghurts and the bread basket. From the hot plate youíll be able to select from freshly grilled items and local specialities.
A stop is usually made for lunch in a town or city where there is a choice of restaurants available.  Dinner is usually enjoyed as a group and the menu will be table díhote, which means a selection of house specials. On some tours there will be a featured meal such as a Scottish evening, with bagpipers, dancing demonstrations and a taste of haggis!
What type of room should I choose?
Selecting the right sleeping arrangements can be a little bit confusing so here is a description of what you can expect from the hotel accommodation offered as part of your tour:
Single room - this is a room for one person sleeping in a single bed.
Twin room - this is a room for two people sleeping in two separate beds
Double room - this is a room for two people sharing one large bed
Family room - this is a room for three people sleeping in one large bed (2 people) and one single bed (1 person). Please note that a family room is normally a standard double or twin room with either a sofa bed or a rollaway bed. All room types other than twins are subject to availability.
How much luggage can I bring?
You can bring one suitcase and one carry-on bag per person. The maximum weight allowance and luggage dimensions varies by tour so you should check the tour documentation for the luggage policy that applies to your tour.   
What meals are included?
One of the great things about travelling on an Escorted Tour is the generous number of meals included as standard. Start the day with a freshly cooked breakfast or, if you prefer, thereís always a lighter continental option available too. Youíll find that some evening dinners included which will give you the opportunity of sampling some local delicacies. Can you arrange pre-tour accommodation?

Can I reserve specific seats on the coach?
Seats cannot be pre-booked however your tour director will implement a seat rotation system which will allow all passengers the opportunity of experiencing spectacular views from different seats on the motorcoach. 
How many people will be on the tour?
The number of people travelling on an Escorted Tour will not normally be more than 50 passengers. 
Are airport transfers included?
This tour will depart from a Central London departure point that can easily be reached by public transport.
Airport transfers are not offered on this tour.
