Tour Summary

This chilled tour features stays in the historic cities of Edinburgh York and London. With these extended stops thereís time to relax and savour these heritage destinations for yourself. This, surely, is Britain at its very best!

Day 1: Arrival in Edinburgh. Free day for independent sightseeing. This evening attend a lively Scottish show.

Day 2: Morning City Tour of Edinburgh then free time for shopping.

Day 3: Enjoy a full day excursion to St Andrews and Glamis Castle.

Day 4: Leave Edinburgh behind and tour through the Border country with a stop at Abbotsford House. On arrival in York have a walking tour and visit to York Minster. This evening enjoy a traditional Pub dinner.

Day 5: Enjoy a historic train ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and visit to impressive Castle Howard.

Day 6: Make your way to Shakespeareís Stratford-upon-Avon then enjoy a scenic drive through the Cotswolds. Later arrive in London.

Day 7: Today explore London on a panoramic tour. Visit the Tower of London to hear grizzly tales and see the Crown Jewels.

Day 8:Tour ends after breakfast. Airport transfer to London Heathrow available.

Day One
Edinburgh & Scottish Evening
Land in Edinburgh. Transfer to your hotel and spend the day relaxing or exploring a little on your own. At 6:30 pm meet your tour director and fellow travellers and head out to a Scottish evening with special dishes and lively music.

Day Two
Edinburgh Castle & City Tour
Explore central Edinburgh to see the 200-year-old "New TownĒ with planned streets and elegant Georgian houses. View the Royal Mile with its narrow medieval houses and tour Edinburgh Castle to see the Crown Jewels of Scotland and the Stone of Destiny. On 06 to 20 August departures, experience the world-famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Day Three
Excursion to St Andrews
Travel to St Andrews, famously known as the "Home of GolfĒ and location of Scotlandís oldest university. Take a  gentle walking tour to see the picturesque ruins of St Andrews Castle. Later tour Glamis Castle, the legendary setting of Shakespeare's Macbeth and the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Monther. Back in Edinburgh, head to a nearby tavern for dinner with your fellow guests.

Day Four
Edinburgh - Jedburgh - York
Drive south through the rolling countryside of the Borders area and past some of the quaint market towns. Stop to visit Abbotsford HOuse, the former home of Sir Walter Scott. In York take a walking tour to appreciate narrow medieval streets, especially the Shambles where the houses almost form an arch across the street. Visit mighty York Minster, which is famous for its stained glass windows and memorials to many prominent people. In the evening dine in a centuries-old pub with plenty of atmosphere then enjoy a light-hearted ghost walk.

Day Five
Excursion to Castle Howard & North Yorkshire Moors Railway
Travel at a leisurely pace to admire the scenery when you board the North Yorkshire Moors Railwayís vintage locomotive. Arrive in Whitby, a lovely fishing town. Stroll around the picturesque harbor, winding streets and quaint buildings. If you like to take photos, this is an ideal place as everywhere throughout the town you can find delightful scenes. Drive to Castle Howard, a magnificent 18th century residence set in 1,000 acres of breathtaking landscape in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the heart of North Yorkshire. Tour the elaborate chambers where "Brideshead RevisitedĒ was filmed and sit down to a cream tea with freshly-baked scones. Return to your hotel in York in time for dinner.

Day Six
York - Stratford-upon-Avon - London
Travel south by highway to Stratford-upon-Avonand Shakespeareís Birthplace in the center of the town. William Shakespeare was born in this house and lived here until he was old enough to marry and spend the first five years of family life here with his new wife, Anne Hathaway. Here you will discover the world that shaped the man as you look through an exhibition about his life and work. Today the house is furnished as it would have been when he lived and worked there. Drive through a part of the scenic Cotswolds region, renowned for picturesque villages built of honey-coloured stone with charming gardens. Arrive in London where the evening is at leisure.

Day Seven
Tower of London & City Tour
This morning take a panoramic London tour to see some of the famous landmarks including Piccadilly Circus, Nelsonís Column in Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Visit the mighty Tower of London to see the many fortresses, Beefeaters in their elaborate uniforms, ravens that inhabit the Tower and the dazzling Crown Jewels. The afternoon and evening are free for independent activities and dining.

What will I experience on this Premium Escorted Tour?

Breakfast is usually a buffet, where you can choose from cereals, yoghurts and the bread basket. From the hot plate youíll be able to select from freshly grilled items and local specialities. A stop is usually made for lunch in a town or city where there is a choice of restaurants available.
Dinner is usually enjoyed as a group and the menu will be table díhote, which means a selection of house specials. On some tours there will be a featured meal such as a Scottish evening, with bagpipers, dancing demonstrations and a taste of haggis!
What type of room should I choose?
Selecting the right sleeping arrangements can be a little bit confusing so here is a description of what you can expect from the hotel accommodation offered as part of your tour:
Single room - this is a room for one person sleeping in a single bed.
Twin room - this is a room for two people sleeping in two separate beds.
Double room - this is a room for two people sharing one large bed.
Family room - this is a room for three people sleeping in one large bed (2 people) and one single bed (1 person). 
Please note that a family room is normally a standard double or twin room with either a sofa bed or a rollaway bed. All room types other than twin rooms are subject to availability.  
How much luggage can I bring?
You can bring one suitcase and one carry-on bag per person. The maximum weight allowance and luggage dimensions varies by tour so you should check the tour documentation for the luggage policy that applies to your tour.
What meals are included?
One of the great things about travelling on a Premium Escorted Tour is the generous number of meals included as standard. Start the day with a freshly cooked breakfast or, if you prefer, thereís always a lighter continental option available too. Youíll find a number of evening dinners included which will give you the opportunity of sampling some local delicacies. Can I reserve specific seats on the coach?
Seats cannot be pre-booked however your tour director will implement a seat rotation system which will allow all passengers the opportunity of experiencing spectacular views from different seats on the motorcoach. 
How many people will be on the tour?
The number of people travelling on a Premium Escorted Tour will not normally be more than 40 passengers.
 Are airport transfers included?
Complimentary airport transfers are included on day-one from Edinburgh Airport to the Edinburgh Hotel and on day-nine from the London Hotel to London Heathrow Airport.
