Full Tour Itinerary
We leave the bustling streets of Edinburgh behind and head for the motorway. Look out for the towering Kelpies horse-head statues as we head towards Stirling, famous for its impressive castle and the Wallace Monument that sits atop Abbey Craig.
There’s a stop for morning coffee in the pleasant town of Callander before heading into the Highlands. The coach crosses sprawling Rannoch Moor, where the Death eaters boarded the train in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 1.
The next highlight is majestic Glen Coe, the site of the infamous massacre of the MacDonald Clan in 1692. This impressive valley has been a filming location for the James Bond movie Skyfall and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
After time for photos, head to Fort William, which sits on the banks of Loch Linnhe and at the foot of Ben Nevis, Britain’s tallest mountain. There is time for lunch and a stroll around this famous Highland town.
Following a drive along the banks of Loch Eil, we reach the Glenfinnan Viaduct. This iconic structure has a magnificent location surrounded by mountains and overlooking Loch Shiel. Potter fans will recall the Hogwarts Express puffing over the viaduct carrying Harry all the way from Platform 9¾ to Hogwarts.
There is time to take in the scene before visiting the poignant Glenfinnan Monument, which pays tribute to the Highlanders who were lost during the Jacobite Uprisings. The monument sits on the shores of Loch Shiel, the location of the “Black Lake” in the movies.
Our return to Edinburgh is through the beauty of the Cairngorms National Park and Highland Perthshire. There is a refreshment stop in the attractive Victorian resort of Pitlochry before touring through the Kingdom of Fife back to Edinburgh.
