We leave Edinburgh behind and make our way past historic Linlithgow Palace, the impressive Kelpies (equine statues) and historic Stirling Castle. In the attractive town of Crieff we will find Glenturret Distillery which was established in 1775 and is the oldest working distillery in Scotland. The whisky that is used in the Famous Grouse brand is produced here. Enjoy a fascinating tour of the distillery to learn how malt whisky is produced then have a tutored tasting of 5 whiskies from their range.
From Crieff we will enter the scenic Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park to reach the popular town of Callander which is known as the ‘Gateway to the Highlands’. Our next stop is at the Trossachs Distillery which is delightfully located on the outskirts of the town in the shadow of towering Ben Ledi. This craft distillery is the home of McQueen Gin which was created in 2015 by husband and wife team Dale and Vicky, who enthusiastically hand-craft their gin in small batches. We’ll have a tour, discovering all about ‘little maggie’ followed by a tasting of their delicious gins.
Next travel to Bridge of Allan to visit the Allanwater Brewery. Established in 1996, this microbrewery makes all their popular beers and ciders onsite. Join an expert brewer for a tour to learn how they create superb beers, smell the hops and enjoy a wee taste their latest creations.
After sampling the excellent beer and ciders of Allanwater Brewery travel back to Edinburgh, where your guide will be happy to recommend some interesting pubs for the remainder of your stay in Scotland’s Capital!
Scotland is experiencing an explosion in the local production of craft beer, gin and whisky. For the discerning enthusiast this special tour will introduce you to the traditions and heritage of whisky creation; the creative process of gin making and the artistry behind craft beer production. Enjoy unique behind-the-scenes access as well as tutored tastings. This unique day out will give you a real taste of Scotland! Each tour is led by a professional driver/guide, who has been chosen for their enthusiasm, driving skills and knowledge. Admission fees and tastings are included in the price. This specialist tour is limited to a small group of just 16 fans.
A visit to a traditional whisky distillery is a feast for all the senses. After a warm welcome you’ll normally have a short audio/visual presentation on the the history of the distillery and the traditional methods used in the distilling process. Next is a tour of the distillery where you you will experience all stages of the whisky making process from mashing and fermenting to distilling and maturation. Your tour will end with a tutored tasting of a malt whisky and the opportunity to buy a souvenir of your visit in the distillery shop.
For all our tours, all guests must be a minimum of 18 years old. If you look under 25, you may be asked to provide identification at the distilleries we visit.
You will need to be able to get on and off the bus on a regular basis and walk to attractions. There will be opportunities for walks so we would advise bringing suitable shoes Please note, some surfaces at attractions may be uneven.
Luggage space on the tour is restricted so the amount of luggage that you can bring is limited to 1 bag per person that weights no more than 15kg and has maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 20cm. Luggage larger than this will only be carried if space is available.
