Full Tour Itinerary
Welcome aboard your Edinburgh shore excursion from South Queensferry. On disembarkation from your tender meet your Guide for a fascinating visit to Scotland’s Capital City.
The tour commences with an introduction to Edinburgh’s long and colourful history as we make our way towards the Port of Leith where we’ll stop so you can visit the former Royal Yacht Britannia, the floating home of HM The Queen for over 40 years. Follow in the footsteps of Presidents and Prime Ministers as you tour the private and public apartments of this historic ship.
Our Edinburgh shore excursion continues with a drive to another Royal residence, the Palace of Holyroodhouse. This is HM The Queen’s official residence in Scotland which has close connections to Mary, Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie. During your tour see the State Apartments including the King’s bedchamber, throne room and Royal dining room.
Next enjoy a panoramic tour of the historic “Old Town” with a drive along the famous Royal Mile to visit majestic Edinburgh Castle where we’ll see the ancient cannon called “Mons Meg” and the Scottish Crown Jewels - the crown, sword and sceptre - collectively known as the “Honours of Scotland”.
After your visit to the Castle there is free time to explore other attractions on the Royal Mile including the Scotch Whisky Experience; The Writers Museum or discover Edinburgh’s hidden history at St Mary’s Close.
Later join your coach for the return journey to South Queensferry. Please note that when the Palace of Holyroodhouse is closed due to official visits an alternative visit will be offered.
