Full Tour Itinerary
We leave Edinburgh behind and make our way to our first stop at South Queensferry, where we will stand beneath the iconic Forth Bridge. The bridge, built in 1890, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has a striking position spanning the Firth of Forth. It has been voted Scotland’s greatest man-made wonder.
Our journey then takes us across to the Fife village of Falkland, where we will see ancient Falkland Palace. Fans of Outlander will recognise the village as being the set for Inverness in the popular TV series.
We will spend a leisurely afternoon in the ancient, historic town of St Andrews, famous throughout the world as the home of golf. If you are a fan why not take time out to visit the British Golf Museum which sits overlooking the world famous ‘Old Course’ where you can take a short walk to get a photograph of the famous Swilken Bridge.
There is much more to St Andrews than golf, of course. The town boasts the oldest University in Scotland. There are also lovely beaches to be explored, and the chance to visit the Cathedral and St Andrews Castle, which now lie in ruins. Our tour guide will conduct a free guided walking tour, which you are welcome to join.
Later why not enjoy a delicious ice cream made in the local area, before we head back to Edinburgh.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect on this Signature Day Tour?
Travelling on a Signature one-day tour is a great way to discover the best of Scotland from your city centre base of Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness. During your day of discovery we’ll introduce you to many aspects of our country: spectacular scenery, history, folklore, nature and much, much more. Luxury travel is provided by air-conditioned mini or midi coaches and each tour is led by an experienced driver/guide who will provide a live commentary in English. There are stops planned at the key sights as well as for meals and comfort breaks. Please note that tours to some destinations, particularly to Loch Ness, can be faster paced so the number and duration of stops may be limited.
How many people will be in the group?
The group size is normally between 29 and 33 passengers. On the Original Loch Ness Tour and at times of peak demand (such as on public holidays) larger coaches may be used.
Will there be a tour commentary?
Each tour is led by an experienced driver/guide who will provide an informative and entertaining commentary in English. You’ll hear tales of the Clans, bloody battles and the famous characters that have shaped the history of Scotland. You will learn too of the landscape that surrounds you and of the nature that makes Scotland so special. Be ready to have a laugh as well - you’re bound to be told some really corny jokes!
What features will the coach have?
You will usually travel in a modern eco-friendly touring coach which is equipped with air-conditioning, comfortable reclining seats, large picture windows and seat belts.
Can I book seats on the coach?
The seating on the coach is not allocated so you are free to sit in any vacant seat. We recommend that groups arrive at the boarding point together so that you can be seated in the same part of the coach.
