Day 1 - Edinburgh/Glasgow - Glen Coe - Inverness

From the nation’s ancient capital, we leave the bustling streets of Edinburgh and head west, where the moody landscape of central Scotland transforms into the spectacular scenery of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
Our first stop is the heavenly village of Luss. Imposing Ben Lomond dominates the skyline as the crystal clear waters of Loch Lomond lap at the shores of this picturesque place. It’s impossible to ignore the romance in the air as the bonnie banks work their magic.
Waving goodbye to this beautiful spot, sensational views lie around every corner as we head to the Highlands. The panoramic views of Loch Tulla are especially awe-inspiring and are framed perfectly as our coach climbs the Black Mount before descending into the remote and mysterious Rannoch Moor.
The haunting beauty of Glen Coe can only fully be appreciated by stopping there. With plenty of time for a few photos, we then enjoy all Fort William has to offer under the gaze of the snow-capped summit of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest peak.
Finally, we weave our way through the atmospheric scenery of the Great Glen before arriving in Inverness, our base for the night.
Overnight: Inverness
Day 2 - Inverness - Eilean Donan Castle - Isle of Skye
A hearty breakfast is the perfect start before we bid a fond farewell to the capital of the Highlands. The stunning scenery continues as we journey north-west through the charming village of Garve before our first stop at Glen Carron. The crisp mountain air will refresh and revive while we drink in the views over Loch Carron.
Another spectacular sight awaits as we head towards the fairytale castle of Eilean Donan. Perched on a little island in Loch Duich, it rises mysteriously through the mist. We’ll explore its many secrets and legends before crossing the engineering marvel of the Skye Bridge.
Portree, the island’s capital, is the perfect place for a spot of lunch and a chance to taste the real Scotland. Lose yourself in its little streets and browse unique and independent boutiques. Don’t miss the colourful houses that surround the harbour – the ideal backdrop for a keepsake photo.
Reinvigorated and ready for more exploration, The Old Man of Storr will leave you gasping in amazement. This pinnacle of rock proudly stands on the Trotternish Peninsula and can be seen for miles around. We then soak up more mystery and mythology, from The Quiraing and Kilt Rock to the spectacular Mealt Waterfall.
Overnight: Isle of Skye
Day 3 - Isle of Skye - Culloden Moor - Edinburgh/Glasgow
The sun rises on our final day and any sadness at leaving Skye after breakfast is quickly followed by excitement and anticipation as we return to the mainland and wind our way to the most famous loch of them all – Loch Ness. We’ll take in the full majesty of its icy depths as we drive along its banks before stopping to take a tour of the mysterious ruins of Urquhart Castle. A short cruise on the calm waters of the loch gives us an opportunity to hunt for the elusive Nessie and we’ll learn more about the legendary creature.
Heading south of Inverness, we next explore the bloody history of Culloden Moor, where the Jacobites’ last stand against government forces in 1746 comes to life thanks to the impressive visitor centre and interactive exhibition.
We leave behind the rugged beauty of the Highlands on a spectacular drive south. The Spey Valley and Cairngorms National Park will take your breath away and a stag or soaring eagle at the Pass of Drumochter and Glen Garry may be spotted. Pausing in Pitlochry, we reinvigorate in the heart of Scotland before enjoying the gentle rolling countryside towards Perth and Fife and a return to Edinburgh.
If you started your tour in Glasgow the coach will pause at Edinburgh Waverley Station. Here you catch the express train back to Glasgow. The train operates every 30 minutes and the journey time is only 50 minutes or so. The fare is included in the cost of the tour.

The guesthouses and B&Bs are carefully selected and offer comfortable accommodation in bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, tv, tea/coffee-making facilities and other facilities. Bedding, towels and basic toiletries are provided.
Some guesthouses and B&B’s offer enhanced facilities, such as a resident’s lounge where you can relax with other guests.
Accommodation is spread throughout the communities that we stay in and is seldom more than a 10/15 minute walk from the town or village centre.
What type of room should I choose?
There are different bedrooms types to choose from, here is what you can expect:
Single room - one person sleeping in a single bed
Twin room - two people sleeping in two separate beds
Double room - two people sharing one large bed
Family room - three people sharing a room sleeping in one large bed (2 people) and one single bed (1 person)
Please note that a family room can be a standard double room with either a sofa bed or a rollaway bed.
Can I join this tour in Edinburgh and leave in Glasgow (or v.v)?
Yes, you can and there is no extra charge to do this. It makes a great way of travelling between our two great cities. The tour is scheduled to return in both Edinburgh and Glasgow at 19:00 hrs. We need to book this in advance for you so please email us at enquiries@scottishtours.co.uk no later than 24 hours after making your reservation. Please quote your booking reference number and request either an Edinburgh or Glasgow drop-off.
