Full Tour Itinerary
We leave Edinburgh behind and shortly we are passing the impressive sight of Stirling Castle and the commanding Wallace Monument. Soon we enter the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park to discover Rob Roy MacGregor country. We make our way across remote Rannoch Moor before stopping in spectacular Glen Coe, the scene of the infamous massacre in 1692. Our tour continues through Fort William and lofty Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest peak before arriving at the banks of Loch Ness.
When we reach Fort Augustus a culinary event awaits at the award-winning Lovat Hotel. On arrival you’ll be seated in the restaurant by the friendly staff and treated to a sumptuous ‘Taste of Scotland’ lunch, which is the celebration of Scotland’s finest food. You have the chance to experience the best of local specialities such as smoked salmon, haggis, wild game and whisky. After a relaxed lunch you can go ‘Nessie spotting’ on a short stroll along the banks of the loch or just relax by the locks of the Caledonian Canal.
Our journey back to Edinburgh takes us through Glen Spean and along the banks of shimmering Loch Laggan. We enter the stunning scenery of the Cairngorm National Park and travel over the Drumochter Pass to reach Perthshire, a land of forests, rivers and mountains. The last part of our journey takes us past Loch Leven, forever connected to Mary Queen of Scots, and through the ancient Kingdom of Fife. We view the spectacular Forth Bridges before arriving back in Edinburgh around 8.00pm.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect on this Signature Day Tour?
Travelling on a Signature one-day tour is a great way to discover the best of Scotland from your city centre base of Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness. During your day of discovery we’ll introduce you to many aspects of our country: spectacular scenery, history, folklore, nature and much, much more. Luxury travel is provided by air-conditioned mini or midi coaches and each tour is led by an experienced driver/guide who will provide a live commentary in English. There are stops planned at the key sights as well as for meals and comfort breaks. Please note that tours to some destinations, particularly to Loch Ness, can be faster paced so the number and duration of stops may be limited.
Will there be a tour commentary?
Each tour is led by an experienced driver/guide who will provide an informative and entertaining commentary in English. You’ll hear tales of the Clans, bloody battles and the famous characters that have shaped the history of Scotland. You will learn too of the landscape that surrounds you and of the nature that makes Scotland so special. Be ready to have a laugh as well - you’re bound to be told some really corny jokes!
Can I book seats on the coach?
The seating on the coach is not allocated so you are free to sit in any vacant seat. We recommend that groups arrive at the boarding point together so that you can be seated in the same part of the coach.
Where does my tour depart from and return to?
Our tours depart from a central location in Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile/High Street which is easily reached by public transport. Full information on the departure time and place of your tour will be shown on your tour confirmation.
