Day 1 - Inverness - Applecross - Ullapool
Bidding farewell to the historic city of Inverness, we enjoy the stunning Black Isle scenery. Pausing at Rogie Falls, a short stroll is rewarded with a breathtaking view of the roaring waterfalls on the Black Water. Equally as breathtaking is Glen Carron and the pretty village of Lochcarron perched on the banks of the loch that shares its name – a beautiful spot for a coffee and a leisurely wander.
Nothing will prepare you for the sheer scale and drama of the Bealach na Ba, Gaelic for ‘Pass of the Cattle’. This incredible route zigzags 2,000ft up the mountains towards heavenly views. Remember your camera to snap the Isle of Skye and Raasay emerging on the horizon.
Impressive red deer, cheeky pine martens and frolicking otters can often be spotted on the descent into picturesque Applecross Village. Tastebuds will be tingling at the prospect of a lunch of locally-sourced produce and freshly-caught seafood at the Applecross Inn.
The banks of Loch Torridon accompany us as we journey to Shieldaig, stopping to soak up the majesty of the surroundings. More wildlife can be seen at Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve before we round off an unforgettable day in Ullapool.
