Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond (2 nights)
First an orientation drive shows you Glasgow's grand public buildings. Then take the route used by invading armies over the centuries. At historic Stirling, visit one of Scotland's grandest castles. Then through the Trossachs for delightful scenery of forested lochs and heather-clad mountains. Visit "Scotland's most beautiful distillery" at Glengoyne to sample some of their finest malt whisky. Continue to your hotel overlooking Loch Lomond, 'Queen of Scottish Lakes'. Snuggle down in your room, an elegant blend of contemporary design with a graceful nod to the Loch's wild and baronial past.

Helensburgh and Inveraray Excursion
After breakfast we start the day with a private viewing of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Hill House filled with original designed furniture and fittings. Travel through the rugged highland scenery and back in time to the turreted Inveraray Castle, nestled beside Loch Fyne the magnificent ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll. Explore the rooms full of armour, tapestries, paintings and porcelain before returning to the warm Scottish hospitality and timeless splendour of your hotel.
Loch Lomond to Inverness (2 nights)
Scotland's rugged landscape dominates the day. Travel along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond and through Glen Coe, the Glen of Weeping. Briefly pause at the WWII Commando Memorial to take in the stunning mountain views of Ben Nevis. Then follow the mysterious 23 mile stretch of water, reputed home of 'Nessie'. Visit the historic ruins of Urquhart Castle and its visitor centre before embarking on a scenic cruise on Loch Ness to stately Inverness. At your hotel this evening enjoy a Highlight Dinner with wine and traditional Scottish bagpipes and dancing.

Battlefield and Sheepdog Excursion
We travel to tragic Culloden Moor, where the pride of the Highland clans was finally crushed. No more than a cannon shot away lie the prehistoric Clava burial cairns, dating back to around 2000BC. Today's highlight is a visit to a Highland sheep farm to participate in the traditional working day of a shepherd and his dogs.
Inverness to Edinburgh (3 nights)
Follow the River Spey before crossing the Grampian Mountains to Blair Atholl and visit the seat of the Duke of Atholl, the only citizen in Britain with the right to maintain a private army. Now head south to the capital. Check-in to your refined hotel in the shadow of the dramatic Edinburgh Castle. In the evening, selected August departures attend the spectacular Military Tattoo.

Next morning drive from the elegant squares of the 'New Town' on to Princes Street to see the Sir Walter Scott monument. Then past Holyrood Palace to visit Edinburgh Castle, home of Scotland's glittering crown jewels. Now see how the Royal Family lived aboard the spectacular Royal Yacht Britannia - discover the lavish State Apartments, crew areas and even the engine room. As evening falls, please join us for a Scottish finalé Celebration Dinner, with wine and good cheer.
