This ďMiniature tour of ScotlandĒ will introduce you to some of the finest Highland scenery including Loch Lomond, Glen Coe, Loch Ness and the Grampian Mountains as well as Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands. Youíll travel through two National Parks and have the opportunity of taking a monster-spotting cruise too. It all adds up to a great Scottish experience!
From Glasgow we travel to the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park where we will drive the entire length of Loch Lomond. Thereís a stop in the picturesque village of Luss where you can enjoy the panoramic views over the loch. As we cross into the Highlands you'll see a scattering of islands forming a line across the loch and Ben Lomond towering in the distance.
After crossing the bleak wilderness of Rannoch Moor we will make the descent into Glen Coe where the mountain grandeur that surrounds us offers exciting scenery and history. Glen Coe is most famously known for the massacre of the resident MacDonald Clan by Campbell troops in 1692. The story that led to this infamous act will captivate you. After time for photographs our coach continues along the banks of Loch Linnhe to Fort William. After a break for lunch weíll stop to admire Ben Nevis, Britainís tallest mountain.
Dark, deep and mysterious Loch Ness is bound to impress.
It extends for 24 miles (38 km) and is up to 700 feet (212 m) deep. It's said
that Loch Ness contains more freshwater than the lakes of England and Wales
Loch Ness is, almost certainly, most famous for its elusive resident - Nessie. On this tour you'll have the option enjoying a short sail on the loch* when you can mount your own Monster spotting adventure. As well as sailing the dark waters of the loch the cruise will provide wonderful views of Urquhart Castle. This atmospheric castle was once one of Scotland's largest strongholds and it has had a long and bloody history.
Weíll have a panoramic tour of Inverness before heading for our second National Park of the day - the Cairngorm National Park is famed for its alpine-like scenery, crystal clear lochs and pretty villages. The four peaks of the Cairngorm Mountains will dominate our travels through the park - the remoteness of this area providing the ideal home for golden eagles, capercaillie and a host of rare wildlife.
After travelling through the Grampian Mountains weíll make a stop in the pleasant Victorian resort of Pitlochry. The final part of our journey will take us to Perth then past the golf resort of Gleneagles and, later, Stirling with its majestic castle. From here it is a short drive back to Glasgow.
