Poetry, culture and history - your tour of Britain takes you from ancient cathedral cities of York and Chester to the Neolithic monuments of Stonehenge. Through spectacular countryside to Shakespeare’s Stratford-Upon-Avon, Wordworth’s Lake District and historic Edinburgh, Britain’s fascinating history will be revealed.

Day One
London - Stonehenge - Bristol
A warm welcome from your Tour Director this morning as you depart from London and travel towards Wiltshire. Visit Stonehenge, the pagan monoliths steeped in mystery, and one of the most famous sites in the World. Admire the graceful Regency terraces in Bath and visit the Roman hot springs, from which the city derives its name. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Reception with traditional pub meal. It’s an ideal opportunity to get to know your fellow travellers and your Tour Director.

Day Two
Bristol- Wedgewood - Chester

We leave
Bristol, England’s ancient port, and home to Brunel’s famous ship SS Great Britain. Visit the Wedgewood Visitor Centre for a demonstration and to learn about the manufacturing of porcelain in the region known as The Potteries. See the Roman Walls which ring the City of Chester. Admire the Tudor architecture and the galleried shops known as the Rows. Enjoy free time to explore this fascinating city.

Day Three
Chester - Lake District - Edinburgh (2 nights)

Enjoy beautiful views across the
Lake District, which provided William Wordsworth with the inspiration to write the poem "Daffodils". Visit the town of Grasmere to see St Oswalds Church where he poet is buried before touring to historic Gretna Green across the border, a town popular with eloping couples, with the marriage ceremony traditionally performed across a blacksmith’s anvil. Cross the Southern Uplands to the historic capital of Edinburgh, your home for the next two nights.

Day Four
Edinburgh Sightseeing and Free Time

Discover the elegance of the city with your expert Local Guide on your included city sightseeing tour. See the Royal Mile in the Old Town. View
Holyrood House and Arthur’s Seat. Your guided visit to Edinburgh Castle is informative and engaging. Spend the afternoon exploring this fascinating city.

In the evening why not attend a lively Scottish banquet with traditional haggis, bagpipes and Highland dancing.

Day Five
- Alnwick - York

Cross the Border into England to visit the medieval town of Alnwick. View the Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and famed as Hogwarts in several of the Harry Potter movies. Cross the River Tyne then make our way to the Roman city of
York. See York Minster and the famous Shambles. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner with your fellow travellers in an English Country House. Meet the family and learn the history of the house before enjoying a hearty home cooked meal.

Day Six
York- Stratford-Upon-Avon - London

Visit S
hakespeare’s birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon, where the great man spent his early years, and see Anne Hathaway’s cottage. A scenic drive through the picturesque Cotswolds brings you back to London, where your memorable trip ends.
