From Edinburgh we head over the Forth Road Bridge and into the ancient Kingdom of Fife. Our route takes us past Loch Leven and the Fair City of Perth. There is a stop for morning coffee in the delightful Victorian resort of Pitlochry before we travel through the dramatic scenery of Glen Garry to reach the wilderness of the Cairngorm National Park .

The soaring peaks of the Cairngorm Mountains guide us through the Spey Valley and then our long descent of Drumossie Moor brings us to Inverness.

After a short panoramic tour of the "Capital of the Highlands we make our way towards Loch Ness, Scotland's largest and most famous loch. Why not mount your own Nessie spotting adventure by taking a cruise* to see the picturesque ruins of Urquhart Castle? Later we'll enjoy glorious scenery as we tour the length of Loch Ness and make our way through the Great Glen to Fort William, which sits in the shadow of Ben Nevis - Britain's tallest mountain.

A real highlight is our time in haunting Glen Coe, the "Glen of Weeping". In 1692 40 of the resident MacDonald clan were massacred in cold blood by the Campbells for not forswearing the Jacobite cause. It is said that you can still hear their cries! We'll make a stop in this awe-inspiring place so that you can marvel at the natural beauty of the glen for yourself.

The barren wilderness of Rannoch Moor extends for some 50 square miles and is one of the most desolate and unspoilt areas in Europe. Our descent of the Black Mount will afford wonderful views of Loch Tulla before we arrive in the little community of Tyndrum for a break.

We desend through Glen Ogle to reach Lochearnside. Soon we enter Rob Roy MacGregor country and make our way from the Highlands back into the Lowlands. From Callander it is a short drive to reach the motorway and the direct route back to Edinburgh.
Please note from 15 October 2017 this tour will operate in reverse direction and the main stop at Loch Ness will be at Fort Augustus.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will I experience on this Small Group Tour?
Many of our customers choose a small group tour for a more intimate and flexible travelling experience as each group comprises of no more than 16 passengers.

All the small group tours that we feature are operated by purpose built luxury minicoaches that feature air-conditioning panoramic windows and comfortable seating. Other amenities include free wifi, USB chargers and chilled mineral water. These nimble tourers can get off the beaten track to visit sights that a larger touring coach just simply couldnt get to.

Each group is led by an experienced driver/guide who will entertain and inform you with stories of our history, nature and folklore.
Tell me more about the optional Loch Ness Cruise?
Mount your very own Nessie adventure by taking a 1 hour cruise to see Urquhart Castle, one of Scotlands most iconic and historic castles. The cruise boat is equipped with on-board sonar, comfortable seating inside and out as well as toilets. Refreshments are available for purchase or you can bring packed food. You can purchase a ticket from your driver/guide on the day of the tour and payment is in cash only.
How many people will be in the group?
The group size is normally between 29 and 33 passengers. At times of peak demand (such as on public holidays) larger coaches may be used.
What features will the coach have?
You will usually travel in a modern eco-friendly mini or midi touring coach which is equipped with air-conditioning, comfortable reclining seats, large picture windows and seat belts.
Will there be stops for meals and are they included in the price of the tour?
Meals are not included in the tour price, but we will make stops where you can get refreshments and something to eat. If you wish, you can bring a packed lunch or pick up lunch items at a previous stop. Vegetarian food is widely available.
Do you offer a hotel pick-up service?
We know that you will want to start your tour straight away rather than spending valuable time travelling around hotels. By offering a single centrally located departure point we can get you to Scotlands best scenery as quickly as possible.
Can I book seats on the coach?
The seating on the coach is not allocated so you are free to sit in any vacant seat. We recommend that groups arrive at the boarding point together so that you can be seated in the same part of the coach.
